The problem

Why leave Wix?

Hitting the template ceiling

Wix's drag-and-drop is great to start with and frustrating to grow with. When your brand needs a specific layout or motion, Wix usually says no — Shopify says yes.

SEO you can't fully control

Wix has gotten a lot better, but it still lags on URL control, structured data, and overall page speed compared to a properly built Shopify theme. For a growing store, those gaps matter.

Commerce features that run out

Wix Stores handles the basics. Shopify handles basics plus B2B, subscriptions, international selling, POS, and headless — all in one place. Your commerce future shouldn't depend on what Wix decides to build next.

What changes

What you gain on Shopify.

Built for selling, not just for sites

Shopify is built for merchants from the ground up. Wix is a website builder that added commerce later. The difference shows in checkout conversion, shipping workflows, and sales tax handling.

SEO you actually control

Shopify gives you full control over how your pages show up in Google — URLs, metadata, speed, and structured data all yours to tune. Wix has improved here but still has real limits.

Every tool that matters, ready to plug in

Klaviyo for email, Shop Pay for checkout, Gorgias for support, Judge.me for reviews — every serious ecommerce tool has a first-class Shopify integration. Wix's app ecosystem is thinner and shallower.

The process

How we run the migration.

  1. Discovery & data audit

We walk through your store together and catalog everything that needs to come over — products, orders, customers, blog posts. We check every URL and search ranking you care about so nothing slips through the cracks. You walk away with a written plan to sign off on before we touch a thing.

Deliverables: Audit report · inventory sheet · URL map · risk register

  2. Theme & storefront build

We build your new Shopify storefront in your brand — colors, type, layout, the lot. Any checkout customizations go through Shopify's supported extension points so nothing breaks on a platform update. Speed targets are baked in from day one, not bolted on later.

Deliverables: Theme repo · Figma mapping · speed report · staging preview

  3. Data migration & redirects

Every product, customer, and past order moves over intact — nothing lost, no orphans. We build a complete redirect map so every old URL points to the right new one. Google keeps the link equity you've earned and your rankings stay where they are.

Deliverables: Migration scripts · redirect CSV · SEO preservation report

  4. Testing & launch

We test the whole site top-to-bottom on a staging copy — checkout, search, admin, the works. Then we practice the domain switchover ahead of time so there are no surprises on launch day. Go-live happens during a quiet traffic window, with a one-click rollback ready if anything looks off.

Deliverables: Test suite · launch runbook · post-launch monitoring dashboard

Questions we hear

What people actually ask.

Will my custom Wix design survive the migration?
We bring over your visual identity — colors, typography, imagery, and the feel of your brand — but we don't literally copy Wix's page layouts section-for-section. Shopify themes are built differently. What you usually end up with is a tighter, faster version of the same brand you had on Wix.
How do my Wix URLs map over to Shopify?
Wix URLs are flexible and sometimes a bit unusual. During discovery we build a complete redirect map that points every old Wix URL to its new Shopify home — products, collections, blog posts, and static pages. Those redirects keep the SEO equity you've already earned.
Can I bring my Wix blog posts with me?
Yes. We export your Wix blog with titles, authors, tags, featured images, and dates intact, then import into Shopify's blog engine. Redirects from the old URLs keep your search rankings where they are.
What about my Wix Payments setup?
You'll switch to Shopify Payments (lower fees and Shop Pay included) or any gateway you prefer. Your historical orders and payouts stay visible in Wix's dashboard; new orders start flowing through Shopify from launch day.
Is Shopify overkill if I only have 50 products?
Not if you're planning to grow. Shopify's cost scales with success, and the platform handles 50 products as easily as 50,000. Moving before you hit Wix's limits is cheaper and less painful than moving after.
